The hut is open to give visitors a first-hand look at the woman shell divers.
This special experience provides an understanding of the way of life and culture of these women, whose lives and work are unique to many.
We offer 2 programs, to eat fresh meal(about 90 minuites), and to have teatime snack(about 60 minuites.) together with Ama(woman shell divers) at Ama hut.
Reservations must be made tow days in advance for these tours.

A dangerous place in the sea on the border between Enshu Sea and Kumano Sea. The magnificent scene of the spray from the black tide as it crashes against the cliffs is said to be the best in Shima. Anori, Shima is famous for the large amounts of blowfish brought to its port. The severe winter ocean tightens up the flesh of the blowfish, making it translucently white with a delicate taste. You can enjoy it prepared in a variety of ways, such as tessa (sashimi), tecchiri (blowfish stew), fried in batter, etc. Harvested from October 1 to the end of February of the following year.

Hinjitsukan

Constructed in 1887 as a rest and lodging facility for pilgrims to Ise Jingu Shrine. It was operated as an inn, Futami Inn Annex, until 1999. Since the suspension of operations by Futami Inn, you can see a traditional Japanese structure, with not only the structure itself but also the garden gracefully designed and then constructed by highly skilled craftsmen using carefully selected materials.

The interior construction is purely Japanese. It began operation as an inn in 1926, but for the building itself, the oldest section is from the Taisho Period. In the courtyard there are two "suikinkutsu" (water-chime echo chambers) which create charming sounds as water drips. Food is centered around the bounties of the sea, but an organic menu of vegetable-centered food is also available upon request.
